FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)—A homicide suspect is expected to appear in court after allegedly killing a woman outside a Fort Myers convenience store.
Rolbert Joachin is charged with homicide and criminal mischief for damaging property.
The incident unfolded yesterday morning, starting with new surveillance video showing the suspect hitting a car in front of the store before the victim walked out.
Police say moments later, at around 8 a.m., the woman was killed.
The killing prompted several Fort Myers Police officers to respond, as well as crime scene units and the medical examiner. After the killing, Joachin ran from the scene, forcing three nearby schools to be placed on a brief lockdown.
A neighbor who witnessed Joachin fleeing the scene spoke with WINK News about what he saw.

"This is a murder. I said, ‘Hey, someone call the cops,’" said Frederick Ashley.
After a multi-hour search, police tracked Joachin down about a mile from the convenience store. An arrest photo shows two officers standing on him in a neighborhood.
Arrest video shows officers walking Joachin in handcuffs and putting him in the back of a police car. He has been charged with homicide and damage to property.
Joachin's court appearance was set for 8:30 a.m. on Friday but has been postponed to Monday. Joachin's public defender requested a change in the date, which the judge granted.
