A Charlotte County man was arrested on Thursday after being accused of brandishing a gun during a road rage incident. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies responded to a call for a road rage incident on Tamiami Trail near West Tarpon Boulevard at around 1:20 p.m. The victim told deputies that Sean McCartney, 41, was in a black SUV when he pulled a revolver from under the seat and showed it to the victim while cursing at him, the report said. McCartney then drove off, the victim said. He was located shortly afterward in the area by deputies and questioned. McCartney told deputies that he had a revolver inside the vehicle that previously belonged to his father, the report said. McCartney then said that he had been to prison and could not have firearms, so he was attempting to sell the gun. McCartney was arrested and faces a charge of possession of a firearm or weapon by a convicted felon.
