Lee County Sheriff's Office detectives continue to investigate the death of a 15-year-old Lehigh Acres boy while serving multiple search warrants near where his body was found. Deputies returned Thursday to a home on 20th Street Southwest after serving search warrants at the property Wednesday. At the same time, deputies also blocked off part of 21st Street Southwest with crime scene tape and searched another home and a vehicle. The Lee County Sheriff's Office has not said what investigators were searching for and has not confirmed whether the search warrants are connected to the death of 15-year-old Matthew Stmarc. Stmarc was found dead in a driveway on 22nd Street Southwest earlier this week. No arrests have been announced in the case. According to the sheriff's office, multiple search warrants have been served as part of the ongoing investigation. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are continuing to follow leads, conduct interviews and gather evidence. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers. Stmarc played for the Riverdale Wildcats Pop Warner football team. The organization plans to retire his jersey number in his honor. Stmarc's family told Gulf Coast News they still do not know how the 15-year-old died. The sheriff's office has not released his cause of death, and the investigation remains active.
